Hassop Holiday Mondays

Free cycle training with Pedal Ready is on offer every Monday, from July 25 – August 29, 9am-12noon, throughout the school holidays to help families cycle confidently on Peak District roads and trails.

Hassop Holiday cycling sessions, based at the old Hassop Station beside the Monsal Trail, aim to help cyclists of all ages to ride more confidently and learn trail etiquette.

David Bocking, of Pedal Ready said: “We’ll be teaching bike handling tips and skills, but it will be light-hearted with cycle games and trail riding advice. Participants can bring their own bikes or – thanks to an arrangement with Hassop Station Cycle Hire – they can get three hours bike-hire for the price of two.”

Peak District mountain bike challenge

An exciting day of mountain biking in the stunning Peak District.

Previously known as the Dark Peak Challenge, this event starts from Edale Village Hall with four exciting routes offer differing levels of difficulty for a great day of mountain biking – from a taster of the trails in the Dark Peak to a full on assault of all the best the area has to offer for a memorable, exhausting and exhilarating day of biking.

The Routes

A choice of four exciting routes with something for all levels;

Adventure Route (approx 14 miles)
A great introduction to the Dark Peaks. Although this is our shortest route, it will still provide you with some technical rocky trails, big hills and wonderful views.

Advanced Route (approx 23 miles)
This route is suited to more experienced riders wanting to ride some of the more technical trails, taking in some of the Dark Peak classics. Expect big hills and loose rocks.

Extreme Route (approx 34 miles)
For very fit and competent riders only, this is the ultimate off road biking experience. With 34 miles of steep hills and technical terrain, this really is a tough challenge.

Ultimate Route (approx 40 miles)
For very fit and competent riders only, this is the ultimate off road biking experience. With 40 miles of steep hills, technical terrain and exposed stretches this is the toughest of them all!
Entry fee is £15. For more information, please visit bhf.org
